A group of Agile enthusiasts from different organizations within Hewlett Packard started to introduce the concept of a “maturity model” in order to provide a guidance and recommendation to teams within the company that need to:
- Define a place to start embracing or enhancing their Agile expertise
- Assesses their current level of adoption
- Facilitates the definition of their next steps.
- Define common language and a shared vision

At HP we have initially defined six levels based on some of the most widely adopted Agile Practices and Principles

Further details on how the stages were defined are presented through a series of surveys applied to focus groups within the organization.

The Agile Core Team within HP has seen outstanding results from groups embracing the adoption of Agile in the stages defined by this “maturity level”. Obviously this is by no means a rigid process and a team can master some of the practices and others not; the model is just a tool for teams to refocus on a recommended path of implementation given the unique internal culture and values that will be presented.

Target audience
