Agile software development is popular. Many teams are adopting it, and many are having trouble. I believe there are three reasons. First, they do not have a clear and compelling picture of what life will be like once they're successful. So, when faced by a choice, they don't know which path to take. Next, they do not have the right habits or reflexes. So, when they don't know which choice is right and just pick one, they're likely to pick the wrong one. And finally, they do not have the technical skills to recover from mistakes.
